SENKO Group Holdings Co., Ltd. (Head office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President: Yasuhisa Fukuda; "SENKO GHD") opened the "SENKO Kanazawa PD Center 2" (Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture, "new center") on June 30.
The new center was constructed by SENKO GHD, and is the third building to be leased and operated by affiliated company SENKO Co., Ltd. (Head office: Kita-ku, Osaka; President: Kenji Sugimoto; "SENKO").
The new center is located around 6 km from "Mikawa IC" and "Hakusan IC" on the Hokuriku Expressway and around 5 km from "Tokumitsu Smart Interchange," providing excellent access to the Kanazawa City area around half an hour away. Hakusan City is almost centrally located between the three Hokuriku prefectures (Fukui, Toyama and Ishikawa), and the new center is anticipated to provide a high level of convenience as a product supply base for the entire Hokuriku region. Located adjacent to Kanazawa PD Center that SENKO opened in 2010, the new center also ensures staffing support measures remain smooth during busy periods.
Logistics of textiles and foodstuff previously accounted for the majority of logistics at the SENKO Hokuriku Branch, but after the first TC center for drug stores was opened in the Hokuriku area in 2018, there has been gradual growth in logistics for drug stores as well as wholesalers and retailers. The new center has an extensive range of facilities such as case sorters and mobile racks, allowing SENKO to meet the logistics requirements of existing customers while also securing more new customers by covering logistics for drug stores, wholesalers and retailers.
SENKO has also partnered with Kyocera Corporation (Head office: Fushimi-ku, Kyoto; President and Representative Director: Hideo Tanimoto) and F-Bit Communications Corp. (Head office: Minami-ku, Kyoto; President: Yukio Yoshimoto) to install solar power generation equipment as part of a PPA service* for on-site consumption of renewable energy at the new center, with operation planned to begin from August.
This initiative not only covers the power requirements of the new center, but also allows utilization of excess power as a source for power retailing with the aim of achieving a low-carbon or carbon-free society and increasing the ratio of renewable energy.
With the opening of the new center, SENKO will meet the logistics requirements of existing customers and also expand business in the Hokuriku area by securing new customers with logistics for drug stores that have been increasing considerably in recent years. The solar power generation PPA model also plays a role in contributing to a low-carbon or carbon-free society.
* PPA services involve owners of facilities providing area on the roof and other space free of charge, so that companies operating and managing power generation equipment (PPA operator) installed at those facilities provide generated power for a fee to the owner of the facility.
