The CSR activities of the Senko Group are based on the philosophy of “building an organization with legality, transparency and a high level of ethics” and “seeking to contribute to society by strengthening awareness that we are involved in work of a highly public nature and by carrying out our responsibilities in an honest and diligent manner.”
Our current three-year medium-term management plan highlights CSR enhancement, specifically under the themes of “fulfillment of corporate social responsibility,” “contribution to environmental protection” and “improvement of safety and quality.” We have thus established three pillars of CSR management: a “legally-compliant company,” an “environmentally-friendly company” and a “company that prioritizes safety,” aiming at sustainable development through harmonious coexistence with society.
With the hosting of the Hokkaido Toyako Summit and the beginning of the first stage of the Kyoto Protocol, the year 2008 saw an intensifying public awareness about the “environment,” primarily in the field of global warming. On the other hand, against the backdrop of repeated business scandals, and in the midst of globally intensifying concerns about corporate social responsibilities perceived amidst the increasing influence of corporate activities on society, ISO 26000, an international standard for social responsibility (SR) applicable to all organizations, is expected to be issued in 2010.
As a logistics business that uses public roads and regional living spaces for its business activities, the Senko Group has dedicated itself to fulfillment of its corporate mission for society, positioning “environmental protection” and “transportation safety measures” as its highest management priorities.
Our aggressive environmental protection efforts include the installation of digital tachographs for environmentally conscious vehicle driving, the introduction of low-emission vehicles and freight-handling devices and the proposal of reducing environmental loads through establishment of partnerships with shipping companies, etc.
As for safety, we make incessant efforts to improve our safety standards with our unique “safety management system,” based on the concept of risk management. In addition, based on the philosophy of a corporation supported by “people,” we have established nurseries and cafeterias within the branches to offer our employees a secure and comfortable work environment.
We plan to continue making every effort to implement a full range of CSR activities by paying thorough attention to legal compliance and corporate ethics, and to enhance profitability through highly transparent and sound corporate activities, so that we can continue to be held in high esteem by all stakeholders involved in the Senko Group.
